Bryan Acheampong is 'Preparing Himself' for NPP Presidency - Appiah Kubi

Accra, Ghana - 25 May, 2025 - Andy Appiah-Kubi, the former Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, has sparked speculation about a potential presidential bid by Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the Member of Parliament for Abetifi.

According to Appiah-Kubi, Dr. Acheampong is preparing to contest for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidacy, with the aim of leading the party into the next presidential election.

Appiah-Kubi described Dr. Acheampong as the ideal candidate to unify and revitalize the NPP, citing his unique combination of intellectual capacity and business acumen.

He praised Dr. Acheampong's credentials, stating that he possesses both intellectual prowess and business success, making him a strong contender for the party's leadership during a press briefing on Sunday.

“The task on our hearts is to present a great candidate who can redeem our party, and Dr. Bryan Acheampong is preparing himself for that mission. He will speak for himself in due course, but I am only a messenger. From what I know, he is the one—and his work speaks volumes,” he said.

The comments come amid internal divisions within the NPP, which Appiah-Kubi acknowledged must be resolved to ensure the party's return to power. He emphasized the NPP's capability to develop Ghana, highlighting the need for a strong and unified party to achieve this goal.

“If we are looking for a candidate with intellectual prowess, Bryan is the one. If we want a successful business mogul, he’s that too. So with him, we’re killing two birds with one stone... he is a symbol of victory,” he added.

While Dr. Acheampong has not officially announced his candidacy, Appiah-Kubi's remarks suggest that he may be positioning himself for a potential presidential bid.
