Bawumia vows to sign anti-LGBTQ+ bill into law if elected
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reaffirmed his commitment to signing the anti-LGBTQ+ bill into law if elected president. This bill, currently pending approval, seeks to prohibit LGBTQ+ activities and is awaiting the Supreme Court's judgment on its constitutionality, expected on December 18.
Bawumia's assurance was made during a worship service at the Philadelphia Church in Kumasi.
He emphasized that once all legal processes are concluded, he will endorse the bill without hesitation, along with the Anti-witchcraft bill.
“There are many policies or works that are not completed yet. And I know that when I come into power, I will do these works to make sure that everyone is happy.
“There are some policies pending in Parliament which I know are very important to our father. One is the bill for the LGBTQ. When I come to power I will sign it without hesitation and the second thing is the Anti-witchcraft bill.”
