Afenyo-Markin Donates GHC100,000 to Combat Cholera Outbreak in Effutu

Effitu, Central Region, Ghana - 13 Feb, 2025 - A recent cholera outbreak in Ghana's Effutu constituency has prompted Member of Parliament Alexander Afenyo-Markin to donate GHC100,000 to support the Winneba Municipal Health Directorate's efforts to combat the disease.
The donation, presented by former Municipal Chief Executive Alhaji Kassim Zubeiru, aims to bolster the directorate's resources in fighting the outbreak, which has already claimed three lives and affected over 400 people.
The cholera outbreak has been linked to poor sanitation and hygiene practices, particularly open defecation, in coastal communities. Afenyo-Markin, who is also the Minority Leader, has been working closely with health authorities to address the outbreak.
His efforts have been commended by the health directorate, which expressed its gratitude for the lawmaker's support.
