AfCFTA can Create Jobs and Unlock $3.4 trillion market for Africa - Mahama

Accra, Ghana - 02 Feb, 2025 - Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama has called on African leaders to seize the transformative potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to drive economic growth and development across the continent.

Speaking at the Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD) 2025, President Mahama stressed that AfCFTA offered a game-changing opportunity for African businesses, entrepreneurs, and industries.

To unlock the full potential of AfCFTA, President Mahama outlined three key actions: investing in efficient infrastructure, strengthening intra-African supply chains, and harmonizing trade policies.

He stressed the need for investments in roads, rail networks, ports, and digital connectivity to facilitate seamless trade across the continent. President Mahama also underscored the importance of ensuring African industries produce goods and services that meet regional and global standards.

By committing to these actions, President Mahama believes AfCFTA can unlock a $3.4 trillion market, creating jobs and prosperity for millions of Africans.

“One of the most transformative initiatives of our time is the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). With the potential to create the largest free trade area in the world, AfCFTA represents a game-changing opportunity for African businesses, entrepreneurs, and industries,” Mahama stated.

“Committing to these actions can unlock a $3.4 trillion market, creating jobs and prosperity for millions of Africans,” he added.
