We plead with you to sign the peace pact - Opuni Frimpong tells Asiedu Nketiah
Executive Director of Alliance for Christian Advocacy Africa, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni- Frimpong has urged the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, to sign the peace treaty before the December elections.
This comes after Mr Nketiah laid out conditions that the party believes must be addressed before considering signing the Peace Pact proposed by the National Peace Council.
Mr Nketia questioned the effectiveness of previous Peace Pacts, pointing out that they had not achieved their desired goals, particularly during the 2020 elections, when eight NDC members were purportedly killed by national security officers without accountability.
However, Rev Dr Opuni-Frimpong has pleaded with the NDC chairman to commit to peace in an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
“We plead with the chairman of the NDC, our big father Asiedu Nketia that we need democrats to practice democracy. We as a country we are saying as part of our democratic culture we commit to acceptance of election results, and we commit to using legal and acceptable processes in making correction.
“We will not mobilise people to the streets that is the essence of the peace pact, and we must all commit to it,” he stated.
