We need numbers in parliament - Afenyo-Markin tells NPP parliamentary candidates
The Majority Leader in Ghana's Parliament, Alexhander Kwabena Afenyo-Markin has urged New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidates and party members to step up their campaign efforts for victories in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.
According to him, the party must not avoide a repeat of the current legislative situation, in which the Akufo-Addo government struggled with governance due to a nearly equal number of members in a hung parliament.
“Don’t give up, let us work together… To our parliamentarians, I say Kudos to all of you. I thank you for your support through your steadfastness and resilience although we have a very tight parliament.”
“We have a majority of one…But we have a few months ahead of us. I want to encourage you to please make yourself available to support the course of government. Let’s finish hard. There is a price awaiting us.”
“To all parliamentary candidates let me plead with you enough of the reconciliation. Move on, fight hard, campaign day and night, and go to every household. We don’t have time to settle disputes.
“Fight for this party the way you fight to save a sister, fight for this party the way you save a mother, fight for this party we need our numbers in parliament,” he stated.
