University Senior Staff declares nationwide strike over broken promises

Accra, Ghana - The Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) has announced a nationwide strike, commencing Monday, September 16, 2024, in protest of the government's failure to address their demands for improved working conditions.

In a statement signed by National Chairman George Ansong, the Association expressed frustration over the government's inability to honour previous agreements, citing unresolved issues, including:

- Failure to implement new rates for Vehicle Maintenance and related allowances
- Non-release of Tier Two pension deductions to Fund Managers since January 2024
- Failure to recalculate interest on Tier Two pension funds from 2010 to 2016

The SSA-UoG has directed all member institutions to comply with the strike action, emphasizing that the decision comes after prolonged government inaction, leaving the Association no alternative but to take this decisive step.\
