Switzerland becomes Ghana's largest export partner with $3 billion trade volume in 2023

Switzerland has emerged as Ghana's leading export partner, with trade volumes skyrocketing to $3 billion in 2023, up from $1.5 billion in 2019.

This development solidifies Ghana's position as the second-largest trading partner with Switzerland in Sub-Saharan Africa, after South Africa.

At a grand diplomatic reception celebrating Switzerland's 733rd National Day, Ambassador Simone Giger highlighted the robust economic and trade ties between the two nations. She emphasized the ongoing development cooperation, which spans 2025-2028, focusing on inclusive development, value chains, skills development, decentralization, and renewable energy.

Ghana's Minister for Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso-Boakye, praised the peaceful political climate, security, and democratic credentials that have attracted over 55 Swiss investments to Ghana. He invited more Swiss companies to leverage the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and partner with Ghanaian businesses to strengthen the private sector and create jobs.

The event brought together high-ranking officials, ambassadors, and business executives, showcasing the strong diplomatic and economic relations between Ghana and Switzerland.
