Parliament to support Kotoko’s trip to USA to play DC United
Accra, Ghana - In a show of support for Ghanaian football, Parliament has pledged to back Asante Kotoko's upcoming match against DC United in the United States.
The team, which won the inaugural Democracy Cup, is set to make history by facing off against the American club on October 12, 2024.
Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin announced that Parliament will explore funding opportunities from corporate bodies to ensure the team's successful participation in the match.
This move underscores Parliament's commitment to promoting Ghanaian football and celebrating the country's 30 years of parliamentary democracy.

Asante Kotoko's representative, Mr. Samuel Opoku Nti, thanked the Speaker for his support, highlighting that the upcoming match against DC United in the USA would be a valuable platform for the club and its players to display their skills and talent on an international stage, providing a unique opportunity for exposure and growth.
"It’s an opportunity we deeply value, and we will give our best when the time comes. This will be our first time playing in the USA, and the entire team is eagerly anticipating the experience," he stated.
The Democracy Cup, initiated by Parliament, saw Asante Kotoko triumph over Accra Hearts of Oak with a 2-1 win at the Accra Sports Stadium on July 17.
