Opoku-Agyemang accuses NPP of stealing Women’s Development Bank policy

The running mate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of allegedly duplicating the NDC's pledge to establish a Women's Development Bank.

During the launch of its 2024 manifesto, the NPP revealed plans to establish a Women's Trade Empowerment Fund to help women-owned businesses if they win the December 7 elections.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, while speaking to traders at Mallam Market as part of her visit to major market centers in Accra, questioned the NPP's commitment to this strategy, asking why they hadn't already executed such an initiative while in office.

She emphasized that the NDC was the first to propose the Women's Development Bank and urged people to remain watchful and informed as they go to the polls in December.

“Be wary of those in the NPP who claim they plan to initiate a fund. We were the ones who introduced the initiative in the first place. If they truly intend to follow through, why haven’t they done so yet? No one is preventing them from taking action."

“We pioneered the Women’s Development Bank initiative. Let’s be vigilant and make informed decisions at the polls.”

“This year’s election isn’t about party loyalty; it’s about the state of our economy. Let’s vote for the candidate who will help drive progress and development in our country," she stated.
