NPP slams NDC's call for Voter Register Audit as hypocritical
Justin Frimpong Kodua is General of the Secretary New Patriotic Party (NPP)

Accra, Ghana - The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly criticized the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) demand for a forensic audit of the voter register ahead of the 2024 December elections.

At a press conference on Thursday, September 19, NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua labeled the call "hypocritical and mischievous".

According to Kodua, the NDC's push for an audit is unnecessary and a deliberate attempt to create tension in the country.

Kodua believes the NDC is aware of their impending defeat at the polls and is using this tactic to destabilize the electoral process.

“Mr Mahama, why are you and the NDC not allowing the Electoral Commission to decide what to do but are embarking on a demonstration?"

“In our view of the above, it is hypocritical for the NDC to be ordering the Electoral Commission to conduct an independent forensic audit of the provisional register,” he stated.

The NPP's stance comes after the NDC organized a nationwide demonstration protesting the Electoral Commission's refusal to allow a forensic audit of the voter's register.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has intensified its demand for a forensic audit of the voter's register ahead of the 2024 elections.

This follows the Electoral Commission's (EC) admission that some district officers illegally transferred votes, sparking concerns over the register's integrity.
