Ghana elections: Akufo-Addo assures UN General Assembly of free, fair, and transparent elections

Ghana's President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed the country's commitment to democratic principles, assuring the international community that the upcoming 2024 general elections will be conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner.

Speaking at the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday September 25,2024, President Akufo-Addo emphasized that his administration is dedicated to ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.

“As my presidency draws to a close, I want to assure this assembly that the upcoming 2024 elections in Ghana will be free, fair and transparent," he stated.

“Ghanaians have demonstrated time and again in the last three decades the strong attachment to democracy which they will not permit to be undermined."

“The EC supported by Ghana’s security services is well equipped to ensure that the will of the Ghanaian people is well respected,” added.

The Electoral Commission of Ghana has also pledged to deliver free, fair, transparent, and credible elections.
