NDC revokes suspension of Central Regional Chairman
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has revoked the suspension of its central regional chairman, Prof. Richard Asiedu, effective immediately.
Prof. Asiedu was suspended for a month on July 2, 2024, along with Assin Central Constituency Secretary Sadique Broni Yeboah, for alleged engaging in activities that are thought to be detrimental to the party .
The suspension followed a meeting between national executives, the Functional Executive Committee (FEC), and Assin Central executives to discuss the withdrawal of parliamentary candidate Shaibu Migyimah.
Migyimah was suspended after the NDC's Central Regional Functional Executive Committee conducted a probe into charges of an amorous relationship with the wife of Constituency General Secretary Sadique Broni.
In a statement signed by the General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, on August 2, 2024, the ban on the party executive has been lifted and takes effect almost immediately.
It explained that Prof. Asiedu's reinstatement comes with conditions, as his behavior will be closely monitored to ensure he does not jeopardise the party's chances in the region ahead of the December polls.
