Mahama slams EC over Mornah's disqualification, says it is 'discriminatory'
Sissala East,Upper West Region, Ghana - John Dramani Mahama, Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has slammed the Electoral Commission (EC) for disqualifying the People's National Convention (PNC) presidential candidate, Bernard Mornah, from the 2024 presidential race.
Mahama expressed his concerns at a durbar in Nabullo, Sissala East, in the Upper West Region, on Sunday, October 13.
According to Mahama, some candidates allowed to contest do not measure up to Mornah, whom he considers a more formidable opponent.
He questioned the fairness and justification of the EC's decision, which disqualified 11 presidential aspirants, including Mornah, for failing to meet necessary requirements on September 20.
“There are thirteen people who were qualified to be on the ballot paper. Unfortunately, our brothers in the PNC were wrongfully disqualified. I do not understand how the PNC was not allowed to be on this ballot paper.
“The PNC is a more worthy party than several parties that I see here on the ballot paper, but that is the issue we have with the Electoral Commission. Sometimes they are discriminatory.
“Because there are some people on this ballot paper who Bernard Mornah qualifies more to be here than those people. I know it will provoke controversy, but I mean it,” he stated.
