Kumasi Asante Kotoko's US tour has taken a dramatic turn as two Sudanese players, Esmat Abdal Hamid Mohammed and Obdoelkarem Yousef Yagoub, have gone missing from the team's camp.

The players' disappearance on Friday, October 11, has sparked concerns, with the club notifying US law enforcement authorities and cooperating fully to ensure their safe return.

This development comes on the heels of a visa controversy that saw only seven Kotoko players granted visas for the trip, while the majority were denied. The team initially withdrew from the ceremonial match against DC United before reversing the decision, allowing five players to join a selected Ghanaian side.

Asante Kotoko has confirmed that two Sudanese players, Esmat Abdal Hamid Mohammed and Obdoelkarem Yousef Yagoub, have gone missing from the team's camp in the United States and has appealed for calm among supporters, promising to keep them updated on developments.

A statement from the club read: “Asante Kotoko SC regrets to inform our supporters and the public that two players, Esmat Abdal Hamid Mohammed and Obdoelkarem Yousef Yagoub, both Sudanese nationals, are currently missing from the camp. The players left the team’s hotel without permission on Friday, October 11, 2024, and all efforts to contact or locate them have been unsuccessful. The club has officially notified law enforcement authorities in the United States and is cooperating fully to ensure their safe return. We urge our supporters to remain calm as we work with the relevant authorities.”
