KNUST Scientists to take center stage at 2024 UN Science summit
Two distinguished scientists from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have been chosen to represent Ghana at the prestigious 2024 United Nations General Assembly Science Summit in New York.
Professor Alexander Yaw Debrah, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, and Dr. Linda Batsa Debrah, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Clinical Microbiology, will contribute their expertise to the global event.
Professor Debrah's presentation, "How North-South Research Collaboration Contributes to Achieving SDG 3," will focus on innovative mobile reporting systems and digital solutions to enhance the identification and management of lymphatic filariasis in Ghana.
Dr. Batsa Debrah will moderate the session, "The Future of Researcher's Global Health Career in Africa: Challenges and Opportunities." She will address the challenges faced by early-career researchers in resource-limited settings and propose strategies to overcome these obstacles.
The Science Summit will tackle pressing global issues, including:
- Climate action
- One Health
- Artificial intelligence
- Biodiversity
- Clean energy
The Africa Science Leadership Coalition will also be highlighted, promoting African leadership in science policy decision-making.
The event takes place on September 19, 2024, and brings together leading scientists, policymakers, and innovators to drive scientific progress and address global challenges.
