EC releases ballot statistics ahead of 2024 polls
Accra, Ghana - October 14, 2024 - Ghana's Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the release of ballot statistics, paving the way for the printing of ballots for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in December 2024.
This development comes as the EC intensifies preparations to ensure a seamless, transparent, and efficient electoral process.
According to the EC, the ballot statistics were carefully derived to guide the printing of ballots. The commission emphasized that the figures were arrived at with great precision, addressing concerns raised by stakeholders.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) had demanded the release of these statistics, along with a forensic audit of the 2024 voters register. The EC's move is seen as a response to these demands, aiming to promote transparency and credibility in the electoral process.
The commission has also announced the list of polling stations for the elections, with 40,647 main polling stations and 328 dedicated for special voting.
Additionally, the EC has clarified that the printing of notices of poll for the presidential and parliamentary elections commenced on October 11, rather than the ballot papers themselves.
As Ghana prepares for the crucial December polls, the EC's efforts to ensure a smooth and transparent process are underway. With the ballot statistics and polling station lists now available, the stage is set for a pivotal election that will shape the country's future.
