EC has imported 1,083 illegal names into register, Okaikwei NDC claims

Accra, Ghana - September 12, 2024 -  Ernest Adomako, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Okaikwei South, has made shocking allegations against the Electoral Commission (EC), accusing it of adding approximately 1,083 unqualified names to the voters register ahead of the December 7 general elections.

Adomako made these claims after submitting his nomination forms at the EC office in Kaneshie, Accra, on Tuesday, September 10.

He stated that the NDC had previously notified the EC about the issue via two letters but had received no response.

The NDC candidate warned that his party would take undisclosed further action if the EC fails to address the anomalies.

Adomako is challenging incumbent NPP MP Darkoa Newman in the upcoming elections.

Meanwhile, NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has called on party supporters to protest at EC offices nationwide on September 18, citing a flawed voters register.

The party has notified the police and is demanding a forensic audit before the demonstration.
