Ato Forson Named Majority Leader of Ghana's 9th Parliament
Accra, Ghana - Jan 7, 2025 - Ghana's National Democratic Congress (NDC) has opted for continuity in its parliamentary leadership, retaining key figures from the 8th Parliament. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Member of Parliament for Ajumako Enyan Essiam, has been appointed Majority Leader, while Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, MP for Ellembelle, will serve as Deputy Majority Leader.
Governs Kwame Agbodza, MP for Adaklu, has been named Majority Chief Whip, with Ahmed Ibrahim, MP for Banda, assuming the role of Deputy Majority Chief Whip. These appointments underscore the NDC's confidence in its current leadership team.
The decision to maintain the party's front bench leadership was finalized during a caucus meeting, following President-elect John Dramani Mahama's recommendation to nominate Alban Bagbin as Speaker of Parliament. As Speaker, Bagbin will play a crucial role in steering the legislative house.
