Bawumia will continue my policies - Akufo-Addo
Accra, Ghana - President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has made a passionate appeal to the people of the Upper East Region to overwhelmingly support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the upcoming December elections.
During his one-day tour of the region on Tuesday, Akufo-Addo emphasized that Bawumia embodies the hopes and aspirations of many Ghanaians.
“I came here to give you an account of my stewardship, say hello for your support and also to urge you to seriously take into consideration the need for you to choose somebody to step into my shoes who is going to carry on the policies that we have enumerated that have brought relief and progress and development to our country,” he stated.
“…This particular election is the simple one when you go to the polls on the ballot paper just look at number one you will see the elephant on number one you don’t have to go any further,'' he added.
The President's endorsement comes as polls show a tight contest between Bawumia and opposition candidate John Mahama. A recent poll by Outcomes International projects Bawumia to secure 49.4% of the votes, ahead of Mahama's 45.1%.
However, another poll by Global InfoAnalytics gives Mahama a commanding lead with 51.1% of committed voters, while Bawumia trails with 37.3%.
