Bawumia unveils funding plan for traders, SMEs
Accra, Ghana - Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has pledged to tackle the funding challenges faced by traders and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Ghana.
During a tour of the Ablekuma North and Ablekuma West constituencies, Dr. Bawumia outlined his vision for making capital more accessible to traders and SMEs, citing funding as their primary challenge.
He proposed two key initiatives: a Women's Trade Empowerment Fund and an SME bank, designed to provide targeted support to businesses.
Dr. Bawumia engaged with traders, stakeholders, and community members during his tour, which included meet-and-greet sessions, stakeholder engagements, and community events.
He reiterated his commitment to improving the lives of Ghanaians through a credit score system and emphasized his dedication to supporting traders and SMEs.
Dr. Bawumia's initiatives aim to address the long-standing issue of funding constraints faced by Ghanaian traders and SMEs, which has hindered their growth and development.
The proposed Women's Trade Empowerment Fund and SME bank are seen as bold moves to empower businesses and stimulate economic growth.
“The NPP want to propose a new initiative to support businessmen. We want to support you. We are aware your biggest challenge is funding. Is that not so? You need funding to boost your businesses. Without funding, you’re unable to promote your trade so we are proposing two policies. One is the Women Trade Empowerment Fund. It’s a type of fund to help women support their business," he said.
