I will upgrade Ghana not reset it - Bawumia replies Mahama
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the governing New Patriotic Party's (NPP) presidential candidate, has responded to former President John Dramani Mahama's recent proposal to reset Ghana.
Mr Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has asked people to support him in the next elections, stating that Ghana requires a fresh start to overcome its existing challenges.
At the NDC's manifesto introduction, Mr Mahama offered a grim image of Ghana's circumstances, saying, "Ghana is bleeding, and its soul is crying for change."
However, in a media interaction on Sunday, August 25, Dr. Bawumia dismissed his opponent's demand for a reset. He believes that Ghana needs an update rather than a reset.
"I represent the future. Ghana needs an upgrade, not a reset," he said
He presented his vision for the country, outlining 14 significant commitments that he intends to make if elected in the 2024 elections. These include creating jobs, enacting significant tax reforms, and converting Ghana into a digital powerhouse.
His suggested efforts include lowering the cost of living, building public infrastructure, boosting healthcare access, promoting affirmative action for women and girls, and improving educational possibilities for all.
