Bawumia Concedes Ghana's Presidential Election to Mahama
In a surprise move, Ghana's presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, has conceded defeat to John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
This development marks a significant turning point in Ghana's 2024 general elections.
Bawumia's concession speech, delivered on Sunday, December 8, emphasized his commitment to a peaceful transition of power. He also extended his congratulations to Mahama, the former President of Ghana, and assured him of his full support in maintaining peace and promoting development in the country.
The concession sets the stage for Mahama's return to power, following a highly competitive election. Mahama's victory has been welcomed by various stakeholders, including Kofi Bentil, Vice President of Policy Think Tank, IMANI Africa, who has congratulated Mahama on his win.
