Anti - Galamsey Strike : Anyone who joins them will be sacked - Kofi Jumah warns GIHOC employees
Kofi Jumah, is the Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Limited

Ghana - October 8, 2024 - Kofi Jumah, the Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Limited, has issued a stern warning to employees planning to join the upcoming Organized Labour strike.

According to Jumah, any staff member who participates in the strike will be immediately sacked.

The strike, scheduled for October 10, 2024, is a response to the government's inaction on illegal mining activities, also known as galamsey. Organized Labour has been pushing for a ban on these activities, but no agreement has been reached with the government.

Jumah considers the concerns raised by Organized Labour to be a national issue, not directly related to GIHOC.

He believes that participating in the strike would contradict the company's regulations and has advised employees against joining the protest.

Speakimg on Oyerepa FM, Jumah warned that any staff of GIHOC who decides to join the strike will be dismissed with immediate effect.

''I hope the GIHOC members are listening. If you like, don't report to work. Anyone who joins them(Organised Labour) will be sacked. I am saying this on authority. There are labour laws in this country. Let the issue be a national concern and not GIHOC's own.'' he stated.

''If someone doesn't sleep well and comes to say things then you follow. So if you like follow them and see. They should not even waste our  time because we are wise at GIHOC," he added.''
