Accra zongo lane fire rages on, building partially collapses

Accra, Ghana - The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed that a section of the burning building at Accra Zongo Lane has collapsed, but fortunately, no injuries or casualties have been reported.

The eastern part of the structure gave way as firefighters battled the intense blaze, which has proven difficult to control.

Despite the challenges, the GNFS is working tirelessly to fully extinguish the fire and prevent further damage.

In a statement on Facebook the GNFS reported, “The eastern part of the affected structure at the Accra Zongo Lane fire has just collapsed.”

The devastating fire, which started on Sunday, has ravaged several shops and their contents, filling the sky with thick black smoke. The cause of the fire remains unknown and will be investigated once the situation is brought under control.

The GNFS has urged the public to stay clear of the area to ensure public safety and allow firefighters to carry out their duties effectively.

Efforts to contain the fire are ongoing, with the GNFS working to prevent further damage and ensure a swift resolution to the situation.
