60 Minority MPs Pay Courtesy Call on Bawumia Ahead of NPP Primaries

Accra, Ghana - 19 June, 2025 - A delegation of 60 minority Members of Parliament(MP) has paid a courtesy call on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) 2024 presidential candidate, at his Nima office.

According to Sammi Awuku, the MP for Akuapem North, the purpose of their visit - captured in a viral video - was to meet with Dr. Bawumia, discuss the upcoming presidential primary, and gauge his interest in contesting.

“We are here to hear to see his Excellency and also have a discussion with him as far as the presidential primary is concern and also hear from him if it is something that he is considering.”

The NPP's National Executive Council (NEC) has set January 31, 2026, as the date for the presidential primary.

Dr. Bawumia's visit from the minority MPs comes as some aspirants have declared their intentions to contest for the party's presidential ticket, including Kennedy Agyapong and Dr. Bryan Acheampong.

Dr. Bawumia's spokesperson, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has since commented on the visit, stating that "DMB remains our fastest path to election 2028 victory."

Meanwhile, the NPP is still to announce the opening of nominations for the presidential primaries.

Commenting on this matter on his Facebook page, a spokesperson of Dr Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, said, “DMB remains our fastest path to election 2028 victory.”
