40 Ghana Army Personnel Trained on Puma M36 MRAP Vehicles

Accra, Ghana - 05 May, 2025 - The Ghana Army has taken a significant step in enhancing its operational capabilities with the successful completion of a four-week orientation training on the Puma M36 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Armoured Personnel Carriers.
A total of 40 personnel from the 15 Armoured Brigade and the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Corps participated in the intensive training, which was facilitated by the Virginia-based defence contractor AMENTUM in collaboration with the Office of Security Cooperation at the U.S. Embassy in Ghana.
Other dignitaries in attendance included Colonel Ekow Nkrane Mensah-Yawson, who serves as Deputy Commander of the 15 Armoured Brigade, alongside Lieutenant Colonel Michael Ackerson, Deputy Director of Plans at the Ghana Armed Forces General Headquarters.
Held at the headquarters of the 153 Armoured Regiment at Burma Camp in Accra, the training covered a wide range of topics, including vehicle identification, operational instructions, safety procedures, and field driving across various terrains.
The participants also underwent practical lessons on servicing and maintaining the sophisticated vehicles, culminating in a field training exercise to consolidate their knowledge.
Brigadier General Gah, Commander of the 15 Armoured Brigade, commended the participants for their dedication and urged them to share their expertise with their colleagues.
Lieutenant Colonel David Kwesi Korsah, Commanding Officer of the 153 Armoured Regiment, expressed confidence in the trainees' readiness to operate and maintain the Puma M36 MRAP vehicles, highlighting the importance of this training in boosting the Ghana Armed Forces' mobility and resilience in peacekeeping and internal security operations.
The acquisition of the Puma M36 MRAP vehicles is part of the Ghana Army's efforts to modernize its equipment and enhance its capabilities in responding to security challenges. With its advanced features, including axle and differential locks, turret controls, and dashboard indicators, the Puma M36 is expected to play a critical role in supporting the Ghana Armed Forces' operations.
