YEA Launches 'Work Abroad' Programme

Accra, Ghaana - 07 April, 2025 - The Youth Employment Agency and the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Job Creation have launched the Technical and Steering Committees for the Work Abroad Programme, a significant step towards facilitating structured and legal labor migration for Ghanaian youth.
This initiative aims to provide young Ghanaians with valuable work experience abroad, enhancing their skills and contributions to national development.
The committees comprise representatives from key institutions, including the Ministry of Labour, Youth Employment Agency, Labour Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of the Interior, Ghana Immigration Service, International Centre for Migration Policy Development, International Labour Organisation, International Organization for Migration, and the University of Ghana's Centre for Migration Studies.
The launch of the Work Abroad Programme is expected to create sustainable and impactful job opportunities for Ghanaian youth on the global stage, promoting economic growth and development. By providing a framework for regulated labor migration, the initiative aims to ensure the safety and welfare of participants while enhancing their skills and employability.
Malik Basintale, Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency, reiterated his dedication to implementing President John Mahama's vision for responsible labor migration.
Acrding to him, the agency is committed to providing Ghanaian youth with opportunities for regulated international work experience, enabling them to acquire valuable skills and return to contribute to the country's growth.
“We are determined to ensure that Ghanaian youth travel through well-regulated channels, gain valuable experience abroad, and return to contribute meaningfully to national development,” he said at the launch.
