Wontumi Pays Courtesy Visit to Dr. Bawumia After EOCO Release

Accra, Ghana - 04 June, 2025 - In a show of solidarity and camaraderie, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, paid a courtesy visit to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at his residence after his release from Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) custody.

Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was arrested on May 27, 2025, over allegations of fraud, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state.

After spending several days in custody, Wontumi was granted bail on Monday, June 2, 2025, after meeting the GHS50,000 bail conditions with two sureties. Following his release, he made a stop at the NPP headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, June 3, where he was warmly received by party executives and supporters.

The visit to Dr. Bawumia was seen as a gesture of goodwill and a demonstration of the strong bonds within the party.
