We’ll resist attempts to steal our votes - Mahama warns against electoral manipulation
Ghana's main opposition leader, John Dramani Mahama, has issued a stark warning to the ruling party, securityservices and electoral authorities, urging them to ensure a free and fair election process in the upcoming presidential polls.
Speaking at the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) final rally in Madina, Mahama cautioned against any attempts to manipulate the election, emphasizing the need for democratic principles to be upheld.
“I want to caution the NPP administration, the security services and the entire body of people who are in charge of supervising this election. I urge you to resist the nefarious actions that some people are planning,'' he stated.
“To the people of Ghana, the National Democratic Congress will go to the polling station with you. Together, we will police and courageously protect our votes and resist all attempts to steal them,” he added.
The opposition leader's warning comes as Ghana prepares to head to the polls on December 7, with tensions running high between the NDC and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mahama's comments were echoed by his campaign team, which has consistently raised concerns about the potential for electoral irregularities and violence.
