We respect the verdict of Ghanaians - NAPO

Ghana's New Patriotic Party (NPP) has begun the process of introspection and rebuilding after its defeat in the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections. The party's Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, has acknowledged the disappointment among supporters and pledged to draw lessons from the experience.

In a statement, NAPO expressed respect for the decision of the Ghanaian people and vowed to work towards a stronger comeback. He revealed that discussions have already begun within the party to analyze the election results and identify areas for improvement.

The NPP's defeat marks a significant shift in Ghana's political landscape, with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) emerging victorious. As the NPP regroups and reflects on its election loss, NAPO has expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve his party and country.

“The 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections resulted in a victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). This was not the outcome we, in the NPP, envisaged; but we respect the verdict of the Ghanaian people. To Ghanaians, we have heard you clearly and with humility we accept. We will work with you to get it right.''

“I am grateful to the Lord Almighty, the giver of life, for bringing me this far and for the honour of this opportunity given me to serve my Party and Ghana.

“I have had extensive discussions with our flag bearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to reflect on the outcome of the elections and, in good time, we shall reflect further as a political party on the causes of our 2024 election loss,'' portions of his statement read.
