Ghana's Black Stars held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Chad in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, leaving coach Otto Addo disappointed with his team's performance. Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances, the Black Stars failed to capitalize on their opportunities, with Jordan Ayew's 17th-minute goal being cancelled out by Celestine Ecua's late strike in the 88th minute.

Otto Addo expressed his frustration, stating, "We had a lot of shots, attempts on goal, we had a lot of ball possession, and normally we have to win this game. This, in the end, surely, is not good enough, and we have to improve, especially on our execution." He emphasized the need for his team to become more clinical in the final third, saying, "If we had scored two or three goals, we would have talked differently, I know. But, again, respect to Chad for the good defending."

Otto Addo highlighted his team's inability to utilize their chances, saying, "We had a lot of corners, we did nothing out of that."

The coach also pointed out the challenging pitch conditions, stating, "It's very difficult to play on this terrain when it's not watered. We can't play fast, so it's a disadvantage for us."

Despite the setback, Ghana remains top of Group I with 16 points, three ahead of Madagascar and four clear of Mali. The Black Stars will now focus on their upcoming match against Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8. A win will be crucial in restoring confidence and keeping their World Cup hopes alive.
