Vietnam introduces visa waiver for tourists from Poland, Czechia, and Switzerland

Vietnam will implement a visa waiver for tourists from Poland, Czechia, and Switzerland starting March 1, 2024.
This policy allows for a stay of up to 45 days for travellers participating in organised tours facilitated by Vietnamese international travel agencies. The initiative, effective until December 31, 2025, aims to enhance inbound tourism and attract visitors from these key European markets.
To benefit from the 45-day visa-free entry, tourists must meet specific requirements, including a passport valid for at least six months and proof of participation in a registered tour programme. This move is part of a broader strategy to position Vietnam competitively within the global tourism sector.
Currently, Vietnam offers 45-day visa exemptions to visitors from 13 countries, including Germany, France, and the UK.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these nations are significant sources of international tourists. The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has also launched a promotional programme targeting Poland, Czechia, and Switzerland, which includes activities to showcase Vietnam's popular tourist attractions.
Vietnam plans to host a ‘Vietnam Culture - Tourism Week’ in Poland and Czechia to commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations with these countries. This strategy is part of Vietnam's ongoing efforts to enhance its tourism appeal.
On August 15, 2023, e-visas were made available to citizens from all countries at 13 international airports in Vietnam, streamlining the entry process.
In 2024, Vietnam welcomed approximately 17.6 million international tourists, marking a 39.5% increase from 2023 and nearly reaching pre-pandemic levels. South Korea continued to be the leading source market with 4.57 million visitors.
Vietnam aims to attract 22-23 million foreign tourists in 2025, surpassing pre-pandemic figures.
