Tony Lithur Chairs Mahama Cares Board of Trustees
Accra ,Ghana – October 13,2025 - The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) has taken a significant step forward in its mission to advance healthcare delivery and combat Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) with the inauguration of its maiden Board of Trustees. The ceremony, attended by the Minister of Health, senior officials from the Ministries of Finance and Social Welfare, and representatives from partner institutions, marks a defining milestone in the Fund's journey to strengthen Ghana's healthcare system.
The GMTF, launched in April 2025 at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), officially commenced operations on September 1, 2025.
The Board of Trustees, chaired by Mr. Anthony Ashitei Lithur, comprises a team of accomplished professionals from various fields, including healthcare, finance, law, and social welfare. The Board members include:

3. Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe – Chief Executive Officer, National Health Insurance Authority
4. Dr. Belinda Afriyie Nimako – Representative, Ministry of Health

6. Mrs. Nelly Bernice Wallace – Representative, Ministry of Social Welfare
7. Dr. Mohammed Sherif Abdul-Khaliq (MP) – Representative, Health Sector

9. Prof. Alfred Doku – Health Professional (Chronic Disease Expert)
