Stop voting skirt-and-blouse - Bawumia tells Asunafo South voters
Asunafo South, Ghana - October 31, 2024 - Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made a passionate plea to voters in Asunafo South to abandon the traditional "skirt-and-blouse" voting method, where they vote for different parties in presidential and parliamentary elections.
During a stakeholder engagement in Sankore, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that a unified voting approach would ensure that the NPP parliamentary candidate, Francis Aduse Opoku, plays a vital role in his government if elected.
The NPP has consistently won presidential elections in the constituency but has struggled to secure the parliamentary seat, currently held by the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) Eric Opoku.
“Vote for me because I will improve your lives. Everybody knows that in Asunafo South, you always vote for NPP in the presidential election but you don’t vote for us in the parliamentary election. But I want you to change that in 2024, stop voting skirt-and-blouse and vote straight for us in the both presidential and parliamentary elections.
“I want the people of Sankore to start changing that pattern and vote for Adusei so that I can add him in my next government. Don’t disappoint us this year we are both number 1.”
As part of his Ahafo region campaign tour, Dr. Bawumia is set to visit Asunafo South, Asunafo North, and Asutifi South constituencies, meeting with chiefs, business leaders, and party supporters to promote his vision and rally support for the upcoming elections.
In a boost to the NPP's campaign, some Norbekoi residents in Asunafo South have endorsed the party, pledging their continuous support. Dr. Bawumia's appeal comes as the NPP seeks to retain power in the 2024 elections.
