Sky Train Scandal: Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi Granted GH¢10m Bail

Accra, Ghana - 26 May, 2025 - Former Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) Board Chairman, Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢10 million with two sureties, following his plea of not guilty to charges of wilfully causing financial loss to the state, intentional dissipation of public funds, and conspiracy to commit crime.
The bail conditions also require him to deposit his passport and all other travel documents with the court and report to the investigator once every week.
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi is standing trial alongside former GIIF CEO, Solomon Asamoah, in connection with the alleged unauthorized transfer of $2 million of public funds into a private account belonging to Africa Investor Holdings for a proposed Sky Train project.
According to the prosecution, the transaction lacked proper authorization and due diligence, leading to substantial financial loss for the state. The accused individuals maintain their innocence and will present their defense as the trial continues.
The case has been adjourned to June 10.
