Sarkodie Sues Ecobank Ghana Over Unauthorized Use of Image

Accra, Ghana - 14 April, 2025 - Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has filed a lawsuit against Ecobank Ghana at the Commercial Division of the High Court, alleging the bank used his image without permission.
The musician is seeking damages, a perpetual injunction, and the removal of all related publications.
Sarkodie, known for his hit songs and advocacy for social justice, claims Ecobank Ghana used his likeness without obtaining his consent. This is not the first time the rapper has been involved in a high-profile case, as he has previously spoken out on various social and economic issues affecting Ghana.
The lawsuit highlights ongoing concerns about intellectual property rights and the use of celebrities' images in advertising.
In Ghana, laws protect individuals' rights to control their own image and likeness, and companies are required to obtain consent before using someone's image for commercial purposes.
