Renowned Eye Surgeon Dr. Adam Appointed CEO of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital
Accra, Ghana - 06 May, 2025 - Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has a new leader, Dr. Yakubu Seidu Adam, who was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
Dr. Adam succeeds Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah, whose term ended in October 2024, and brings over two decades of experience to the role.
He joined KBTH in 2003 as a Consultant Eye Surgeon and has since held significant positions, including Head of the Lions International Eye Centre, which he led to prominence in the subregion.
A distinguished fellow of the Ghana College of Surgeons and member of several prestigious ophthalmological societies, Dr. Adam has made notable contributions to clinical research, publishing numerous papers in respected local and international peer-reviewed journals.
His appointment is expected to drive KBTH's mission to provide world-class healthcare, advance medical research, and offer comprehensive medical training.
In his inaugural statement, Dr. Adam emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts, stating, "Together, we can build a better Korle Bu," and expressed his commitment to enhancing the hospital's services and impact.
