Real Madrid leave it late to beat nine-man Sevilla
Kylian Mbappe has scored 29 goals in 33 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid this season

Late goals from Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham helped Real Madrid overcome nine-man Sevilla at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in Carlo Ancelotti's final away game in charge of Los Blancos.

Sevilla had managed to keep Real at bay despite having Loic Bade and Isaac Romero sent off in the early stages of either half but La Liga top scorer Mbappe finally broke the deadlock with his 29th league goal of the season.

Afforded space outside the box with 15 minutes left, the France forward struck a low drive that beat Orjan Nyland in the Sevilla goal before England midfielder Bellingham guided home a header from substitute Gonzalo Garcia late on.

Real's faint hopes of retaining their La Liga crown were extinguished on Thursday when Barcelona clinched a 2-0 win against Espanyol to secure their 28th league title and leave Ancelotti without a major trophy during his final campaign in Madrid.

For Sevilla, it has been another turbulent season battling relegation.

Just days after their players spent a night at their training ground after "violent attacks" by supporters, they confirmed their top-flight status with a 1-0 win over Las Palmas on Tuesday.

But the Sevilla supporters were set for another frustrating evening after their side were reduced to 10 men inside 12 minutes.

Mbappe ran on to a lofted pass from Bellingham and raced through on goal, only to be brought down by last man Bade, who received a straight red card for the infringement.

Mbappe was again sent through on goal by an exquisite outside-of-the-foot pass from Luka Modric but failed to hit the target, while Fran Garcia's deflected cross struck the crossbar for the visitors.

But Joaquin Caparros' side could have carried a lead into the half-time break after Alvaro Pascual, who scored his first La Liga goal in the win over Las Palmas, stole possession from Real centre-back Jacobo Ramon - but only hit the side-netting with just keeper Andriy Lunin to beat.

Caparros brought on Romero at the break but the forward's cameo for Sevilla lasted less than a minute as his yellow card for a tackle on Aurelien Tchouameni was upgraded to red following a video assistant referee (VAR) intervention.

Sevilla captain Nemanja Gudelj then cleared Federico Valverde's effort off the line before Real hit the crossbar for the second time through Mbappe's curling effort.

Mbappe, however, found the breakthrough by picking out the bottom corner from outside the box before Bellingham, who will miss Real's next game after picking up a fifth La Liga yellow card, sealed the win to take their tally to 81 points.

Ancelotti will take charge of Real for the last time on 25 May as Real Sociedad visit Santiago Bernabeu on the final day of the season, with the Italian set to take charge of Brazil the following day.
