Randy Abbey, Stephen Appiah Lead Revamped Black Stars Management Team
Accra, Ghana - 18 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's national football team, the Black Stars, has undergone a major overhaul with the appointment of a new five-member management committee.
The move follows a disappointing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification campaign, which saw the team fail to secure a spot in the tournament.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dissolved the previous management committee, led by GFA Vice President Mark Addo, and replaced it with a new team headed by Dr. Randy Abbey. The new committee includes former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah, who will serve as Vice Chairman and oversee player relations.
The other members of the committee are Moses Armah, President of Medeama SC, Richard Nsenkyire, President of FC Samartex, and Samuel Aboabire, Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association. Each member has been assigned specific responsibilities, including matchday operations and special duties related to the team.
The new committee will face its first major test when the Black Stars take on Chad in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on March 19. The team will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing AFCON qualification campaign and make a strong start to their World Cup qualifying bid.
