Protect the judiciary from illegal pressure - AG Dame tells GBA
Accra, Ghana - Nov 5, 2024 - Ghana's Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has cautioned the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) to be vigilant against illegal pressure on the judiciary.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the GBA's new president and executives in Accra on November 4, Dame emphasized the need to prevent and condemn any acts that compromise the judiciary's independence.
Dame cautioned against "unscrupulous persons" who seek to undermine the judiciary's integrity by tarnishing its image without justification.
He highlighted the critical role of the legal community in maintaining the "purity, dignity, and majesty" of Ghana's courts.
“The Bar must prevent and condemn each and every act of illegal pressure on the Judiciary,” he stated.
