President Mahama says no government bungalow is for sale - Ablakwa

Accra, Ghana - 11 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's President Mahama has intervened to protect four government bungalows from demolition, following a distress petition from government workers occupying the properties according to Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Chairman of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team.

In a Facebook post, Ablawakwa stated that the bungalows, located behind the State House, were allegedly targeted by a private developer who claimed to have purchased the land last year.

However, President Mahama's National Security Committee has stepped in to safeguard the properties, ensuring the government workers, who are staff of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Gender, Children and Social Protection, can remain in their homes.

Ablakwa added that no government bungalow is for sale, effectively shutting down the private developer's claims. He revealed that the developer had been put on notice, advising them to seek a refund from the purported seller of the state lands.

'' Team ORAL has this morning promptly acted on a distress petition from government workers occupying 4 bungalows behind the State House which were about to be demolished by a faceless private developer who sent thugs claiming they paid for the land last year.

'' President Mahama’s National Security Committee has immediately moved in to protect the bungalows.
We have asked the government workers who are staff of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Gender, Children and Social Protection not to move out of their bungalows as demanded by the thugs.
President Mahama says no government bungalow is for sale. Notice is hereby served that those faceless private developers may proceed for a refund from whoever they purportedly bought the state lands from,'' portions of Ablawka's Facebook post read.

This swift action by President Mahama's government is seen as a commitment to protecting public assets and preventing what has been described as "State Capture."
