President Mahama Receives Credentials from 10 New Envoys, Pledges Stronger Ties
Accra ,Ghana - September 19,2025 - President John Dramani Mahama has received letters of credence from 10 newly-accredited envoys to Ghana, representing Africa, Europe, and Asia. The ceremony, held at the Jubilee House, marked a significant strengthening of Ghana's diplomatic ties and underscored its active role in promoting regional security and international investment.
The new envoys are Colonel (Rtd) Shem Ishahilidza Amadi, High Commissioner of Kenya; Mr. Amadou Ndene Ndoye, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Senegal; Mr. Wael Fathy, Ambassador of Egypt; Mr. Gariballa Khidir Ali, Ambassador of Sudan; Dr. John Mikal Kvistad, Ambassador of Norway; Mr. Jakob Linulf, Ambassador of Denmark; Mr. Rune Skinnebach, Ambassador of the European Union; Mr. Christian Rogg, British High Commissioner; Mr. Frederik Landshöft, Ambassador of Germany; and Mr. Najeeb Durrani, High Commissioner of Pakistan.
During the ceremony, President Mahama warmly welcomed the envoys and reaffirmed Ghana's commitment to peaceful international cooperation. He emphasized the urgent need for regional solidarity in addressing common challenges, particularly the growing threat of terrorism in West Africa. "Without a united regional front, this threat could spread across West Africa," he warned.
The President expressed optimism that the envoys' appointments would unlock fresh opportunities for collaboration in key areas such as infrastructure development, energy, trade, and human capital advancement. He highlighted Ghana's strategic position as a prime manufacturing and processing hub for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), offering duty-free and tariff-free access across the continent.
In his discussions with the envoys, President Mahama encouraged them to explore Ghana's investment climate, which aligns with the government's development priorities. He assured them that Ghana remains a dependable partner for regional stability and shared prosperity.
The President also touched on the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) dialogue with Sahelian nations that have withdrawn from the regional body. He stressed the need for solidarity in addressing the challenges faced by these countries.
