President Mahama nominates new District Chief Executives for eight regions

Accra, Ghana - 26 March, 2025 - President John Dramani Mahama has taken a significant step towards enhancing local governance in Ghana, nominating a new batch of District Chief Executives to oversee development and governance in eight regions.

This strategic move falls under the government's broader initiative to fortify local governance and accelerate development.

The newly appointed executives will focus on driving transformation at the grassroots level through effective district-level administration. However, their appointments are contingent upon approval from their respective District Assemblies.

In line with Ghana's 1992 Constitution and the Local Governance Act of 2016, these nominations aim to fill existing vacancies and enhance local service delivery.

Ahmed Ibrahim, Minister in charge of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, offcially confirmed the nominations in a statement.

According to him, their appointments are contingent upon approval from their respective District Assemblies.
