President Akufo-Addo set to unveil new hospitals today as Part of Agenda 111
In a major boost to Ghana's healthcare system, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is set to inaugurate several hospital projects today, December 5, 2024. This move is part of the government's flagship Agenda 111 initiative, aimed at expanding healthcare infrastructure across the country.
The initiative seeks to improve access to quality healthcare services, and the newly inaugurated hospitals are equipped with modern units, advanced medical equipment, and trained personnel to ensure efficient service delivery.
Two of the hospitals being inaugurated are the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipal Hospital at Trede and the Oforikrom Municipal Hospital, both located in the Ashanti Region. These facilities are part of a broader plan to construct 111 districts and specialised hospitals nationwide.
According to Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, the hospitals are designed to provide comprehensive healthcare services, including accident and emergency care, maternity services, and specialised departments such as eye, dental, and ENT departments.
“We have a complete 100-bed hospital with an accident and emergency centre, with a neonatal unit and pediatric unit. That is where small children will be, and older children also will be. With a maternity home, a kitchen, a mortuary, OPD, a pharmacy, an X-ray, and a laboratory, it is a complete hospital.
“We have an eye department, dental department, ENT department, and consulting rooms. We have public health units inside the hospital,'' he added.
