The Ghana Education Service (GES) has unveiled a comprehensive prospectus for incoming Senior High School (SHS) students, outlining essential items required for a smooth transition into the 2025/2026 academic year. This initiative aims to alleviate financial burdens on parents and ensure fairness across schools.

Key Highlights of the Prospectus

- Uniform Requirements: The GES has standardized requirements for all SHS students, eliminating disparities and ensuring that schools adhere to the approved list.
- Three Categories: The prospectus is divided into three categories, with Category A covering 27 basic items, including:
    - Boarding Students:
        - Hard-body suitcase or trunk
        - Chop box or plastic container
        - Toiletries
        - Bedding
        - School-specific shoes
        - Underwear
        - Cutlery
        - Mathematical set and scientific calculator
    - Day Students:
        - Mathematical set
        - Scientific calculator
        - School-specific sandals
        - Black or white sneakers
        - School bag
- Cleaning Materials: Category B focuses on cleaning supplies, divided into three subgroups:
    - Group 1:
        - Hard hand gloves
        - 5 liters of liquid soap
        - 1 kilogram of washing powder
    - Group 2:
        - Small-sized bleach
        - Dustpan
        - Long-handled broom
        - Scrubbing brush
    - Group 3:
        - Standing mop and mop bucket
        - Duster
        - Short local broom

Importance of the Harmonized Prospectus

The GES emphasizes that this initiative will :
- Ensure fairness across schools
- Reduce costs for parents and guardians
- Prevent illegal demands from schools
- Help families prepare early before CSSPS placement

Reporting Date for SHS Students

First-year SHS students are expected to report on October 18, 2025, for the start of the 2025/2026 academic year .

Placement Statistics

The GES has announced that 483,800 candidates, representing 82% of qualified BECE students, have been placed into Senior High Schools, Senior High Technical Schools, and Technical and Vocational Institutions. Girls make up 51.4% of the placed students, with a total of 248,038 .
