PNC throws weight behind Mahama in Ghana's Presidential Election

The People's National Convention (PNC) has thrown its weight behind John Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the upcoming December polls.

This endorsement comes after the PNC was disqualified from the presidential race due to errors in its nomination forms.

According to National Chairman Samson Awingobit whomade yhis revelation during a press briefing on Wednesday, November 27, the decision to support the NDC was reached after consultations with the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) and Functional Executive Committee (FEC) members.

Awingobit explained that the PNC's support is aimed at ensuring collaboration between the PNC and the next government to be formed by the NDC.

“Nine days to the general election, the PNC not having a presidential candidate cannot sit neutral for that matter, as a National Chairman, in consultation with the leader, we’ve invited NEC – that is our regional representative made up of the Chairmen and regional secretaries including FEC (Functional Executive Committee) members.

“At the end of deliberation, we discussed and we collectively – the majority have declared that the PNC will throw our support for the NDC presidential candidate for the 2024 elections,” he added.
