OSP launches probe into alleged vote-buying in Ghana's Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency

A contentious incident in Ghana's Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency has sparked a probe by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). The investigation centers on allegations that the incumbent Member of Parliament, Lydia Alhassan, following allegations attempted to influence voters with food handouts at the ongoing special voting exercise.

This was confirmed by the OSP officials at the Legon Police Station to Channle One news.

This development has raised concerns about the potential for voter inducement, with opposition candidate John Dumelo condemning the act as illegal and a clear violation of the Electoral Commission's rules.

Dumelo emphasized that such actions compromise the integrity and fairness of the electoral process.

The incident has also sparked a war of words, with Dumelo suggesting that he could similarly engage in largesse on a larger scale if he so chose.
