ORAL Committee Submits 2,417 Corruption Complaints to President Mahama

Accra, Ghana - 10 Feb, 2025 -  The anti-graft committee, Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL), tasked with gathering evidence from the public, has submitted a report containing a staggering 2,417 complaints of suspected corruption to President John Mahama at the Jubilee House today.

The committee's chairman, Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa, emphasized the deep-seated concerns of Ghanaians regarding corruption. He noted that the public is eagerly awaiting the president's response to the issue.

He also revealed that the committee received an overwhelming response from the public, with 1,493 reports lodged via a toll-free call and 924 submitted via email.

“We received 1,493 calls through the toll-free line. We also received 924 emails. Fortunately, all of these calls are recorded automatically, and all the emails have also been preserved for verification and validation,'' he stated.

“So in total, the number of complaints received amounts to 2,417,” Ablakwa disclosed while presenting the ORAL team’s report to President Mahama in Accra on Monday, February 10.

“So those who had any doubts about how relevant and how timely the president’s intervention was at the time, this is your evidence. President Mahama has been vindicated. It was a masterstroke, it was the right decision for our country, and it has deepened transparency and accountable governance,”

''Where would all of these people have gone if President Mahama had not set up the ORAL preparatory team?” he added.

On his part, President Mahama praised the committee's efforts, particularly given their voluntary nature. He vowed to reinvest all recovered funds into national development, stressing that Ghana will no longer tolerate corruption.

The Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) team tasked with recovering state property unlawfully acquired by officials comprises of five members. They include; Investigative Journalist, Raymond Archer, Lawyer Martin Kpebu, Former Auditor-General, Daniel Domelovo, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye and Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Ghana's Foreign Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

President Mahama handed the report over to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dominic Ayine who will investigate the cases and take necessary action.
