Nurse Slams GH¢7m Lawsuit on Social Media Personality Over Alleged Assault at Ridge Hospital
Accra ,Ghana - Rejoice Tsotsoo Bortei, a nurse at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, also known as Ridge Hospital, is suing social media personality Ralph Saint Williams, aka "Ralph De Fellow Ghanaian," for GH¢7 million. The lawsuit claims Williams physically assaulted and defamed her.
The incident occurred on August 17, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital's emergency room, where Williams allegedly stormed in with a group of men, demanding immediate treatment for an injured finger. According to the writ of summons, Williams struck Bortei's left hand with a clenched fist and a metallic cellphone without provocation, leading to injuries on her right shoulder, left lower arm, back, and waist, as well as severe headaches and chest pains .
Bortei is seeking GH¢5 million in damages for battery and GH¢2 million for defamation, arguing that Williams' words have "cast the Plaintiff as a liar, a non-trustworthy person, and a crook" and reduced her standing "in the estimation of right-thinking members of society". The lawsuit also includes additional reliefs, such as:
- Public Apology: A court order for a full public apology and retraction of the defamatory statements
- Perpetual Injunction: A perpetual injunction restraining Williams from further defamatory publications
- Restraining Order: A restraining order preventing Williams from coming within 50 meters of Bortei
- Legal Costs: Payment of legal costs and other reliefs deemed fit by the court
Williams has denied assaulting Bortei, attributing his actions to frustration over systemic failures in the healthcare system. The case has drawn sharp reactions from stakeholders, with many demanding accountability and better protection for healthcare workers.
